At Siskiyou Opportunity Center (SOC), we help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities build meaningful lives through work, community involvement, and personal growth. Our programs span Siskiyou and Shasta Counties, offering individualized services that promote choice, inclusion, and independence.
Weed Day Program – Community Integration Training (CIT)
Located in Weed, this program provides daily opportunities for learning, creativity, and community connection. Participants develop skills through art, science, volunteer activities, and on-site job training in recycling operations — preparing for greater independence and, for some, future employment. Available in Siskiyou only.
Yreka Day Program – Community Endeavors
Based in Yreka, CE focuses on community integration, personal growth, and daily living skills. Participants engage in local activities, volunteerism, and individualized learning experiences. This program also supports individuals enrolled in Independent Living Services (ILS) to extend skill-building into their homes and communities. Available in Siskiyou only.
Supported Employment (SE)
SOC’s Supported Employment program operates in both Siskiyou and Shasta Counties, connecting individuals to real jobs and providing on-the-job coaching for long-term success. Our crews maintain Caltrans rest areas, janitorial mobile crews and operate recycling services at the Shasta County Transfer Station, offering paid work experience that fosters teamwork, responsibility, and confidence. Available in Shasta and Siskiyou.
Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) – Job Development
As a branch of Supported Employment, this program partners with the California Department of Rehabilitation to assist job seekers in preparing for, finding, and keeping employment. SOC staff provide career exploration, job readiness training, and individualized placement services that connect people with local employers. Available in Shasta only.
Independent Living Services (ILS)
ILS offers one-on-one training to help individuals live more independently. Services include budgeting, cooking, cleaning, transportation, and self-advocacy — empowering people to achieve personal goals and participate fully in their communities. Available in Siskiyou only.
