Welcome to our Community Employment Page! Our Clients work in a variety of settings, they learn work skills in the areas of janitorial, landscaping, and maintenance. While learning valuable and highly transferable work skills these clients work in community settings, which allows them to gain needed community access skills such as communication, professionalism, and problem solving. We have 4 consumers in individual placements throughout the county and currently have five Supported Employment Crews. We maintain 2 Cal-Trans Rest Areas; provide housekeeping to the Comfort Inn in Weed, as well as local churches, schools, and a radio station. We continually look for new and diverse work opportunities for our clients. If you are interested in hiring one of our crews please call us at 842-4110.

Supported Employment Crews
Each crew consists of 3-4 clients and 1 working Vocational Instructor. Clients in this setting enjoy interaction with their peers, meaningful work, and a low supervisor to worker ratio. We currently employ 18 clients in our supported employment crews.
Individual Placement
Clients desiring even more independence and community contact can choose an individual placement. In this part of our program we assist individuals in applying for and obtaining employment in the competitive job market. We offer on the job training and supervision to help the individual become stable in their work environment, as well as help the employer learn how to teach, supervise and assist a disabled employee. Once we feel that the client is able to perform the job requirements, and the employer has a good understanding of the individual we will slowly back out of the picture. We provide long term follow up and can increase time spent with the client as needed. We have had six successful individual placements!
Situational Assessments
A service provided in cooperation with the Department of Rehabilitation, our situational assessments help clients and their support groups evaluate work readiness. Our assessments consist of 40 hours of supervised work evaluation in sheltered and community settings. We assess job readiness, communication skills, safety skills, community access ability, transportation needs, and needed support. This has been a valuable tool in determining ones ability to start and maintain meaningful work in our communities.

Benefits of Hiring our Crews
There are many benefits to employing one of our crews. The S.O.C. pays all wages, benefits, sick and vacation time, as well as payroll taxes and Workers Compensation. We will have a presence at each worksite each day. Our crews will never “call in sick”, and we very rarely reschedule due to weather conditions. If you are looking for dependability and great work quality come to the S.O.C.
Awards For Excellence
Many of the employers receiving our services have been recognized for their appearance and cleanliness. In 2006 the Comfort Inn in Weed Ca., was one of few Comfort Inn hotels statewide that received the title of Platinum Choice Hotel. Also in 2006 the Collier Rest Area, where we have two crews, was featured as being a top rest area in the state.
