Training for Independence

We are celebrating our 40th Anniversary!!!!

THE PAST: Siskiyou Opportunity Center was started by a county wide group of people in 1970. Early on workers produced stakes, pallets and craft items. Since then many changes have taken place. This year we are celebrating many anniversaries: Our recycling center has been open for 20 years, our Supported Employment Program is celebrating 15 years and our Yreka Office 10 years!!!!!!

THE FUTURE: We continue to look for new and exciting work opportunites for our workers. This year we are producing three new wood products: bat houses, painted birdhouses, and children's step stools. We are planning to start our first service contract for the Federal Governmen in October, and hope to start a new partnership allowing us to provide work for individuals with mental health disabilities.

OUR MISSION :Our mission remains the same; To provide support services that assis individuals with disabilities to obtain an earned income, function independently, and maximize their highest level of vocational potential.

OUR MOTTO :"TRAINING FOR INDEPENDENCE"
